Circul8 Nights
A Circul8 Night is a great excuse to leave your cares behind, and jump feet first into a rowdy dance adventure. The intoxicating sights, sounds, scents and feelings of a frenzied crowd winding round a bonfire as one create a magical, unparalleled atmosphere. Just make sure you get a good sleep the night before!
History
Circul8 Nights originated in Norwich during the summer of 2011. While others were jamming and juggling fire torches to the beat of a wild, Irish-dub fusion track, I showed a couple of friends the steps to the Hebrew circle dance “Tzadik Katamar”: The Wise Man and the Fool. As it turns out, mastering a dance mid-party is surprisingly easy, because with everyone pitching in and muddling through, there’s always someone doing the right steps to copy. When circle dancing spontaneously started up at the next few parties, a Circul8 Night seemed the obvious next step.

How it works
Twice a year from 6pm until late, I host - weather permitting - an open air gathering with live music and bonfire. The yard is the perfect spot for a shindig, and has seen many a party over the years. A hat goes round to cover the bar, then the musicians, then the kitty for the next Night. For those who don’t know the dances, this is a chance to have a go in a real party setting with old hands to show them how it’s done. For those who do know the dances, it’s a chance to go wild.
Where and when
Circul8 Nights are word-of-mouth events that welcome Circul8 enthusiasts… and their friends. If you fancy coming along to witness the spectacle yourself, keep an ear to the ground for word of the next Night or come along to a class to brush up on your steps.
